N. C. Little Hospice - About Us
The N. C. Little Memorial Hospice is a not-for-profit, independent hospice organization providing expert pain management, symptom control and compassionate care for people living with a terminal illness. We serve patients throughout the State of Minnesota and beyond.
The Little Hospice has earned the community's respect over the past 12 years by providing exceptional care to those in need. The Little Hospice is the state's oldest residential facility and is licensed by the Minnesota Department of Health. It is a member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Association and Hospice Minnesota.
We believe that no one should live in pain; no one should live in fear of dying with their symptoms out of control; and no one should die feeling alone.
Patients of all ages with any illness may be appropriate for hospice care, at the point their physician determines they have a prognosis of six months or less to live. Some of the more common diagnoses we see are:
- Cancer
- Cardiovascular disorder
- Renal disease
- Liver disease
- Lung disease
- HIV/AIDS
- Stroke
- Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
- Dementia
Our home looks and feels like most comfortable suburban homes. The aroma of homemade soup simmering, cookies baking or "Sunday dinner" in the oven, greet visitors and families as they walk in the door. The homey kitchens, living rooms and fireplaces help families feel welcome and offer a sense of belonging. Fresh flowers abound. Recreation rooms offer space for children to relax and play.
Each patient bedroom has its own television, private telephone, and state-of-the-art hospital bed. Families often bring special items and photographs so patients can feel comforted by familiar surroundings. Family members are welcome to stay overnight in our guest bedrooms or, if they desire, camp out in their loved one's room on a hide-away bed.
